Friends

We had a great week in Kindergarten learning how to be a good friend! We read the story "How to Fill a Bucket". The students worked hard to be kind to each other!

We have learned 10 Jolly Phonics sounds (s, a, t, i, p, n, c, k, e, and h) and are learning to "blend" these sounds together to read words such as hat, nip, sit, pet, etc.

The Kindergarten kids have also been learning how to read and write color words! We ended the week working with our third grade buddies in Mrs. Steele's third grade classroom to make a ROY-G-BIV person to help us practice reading and writing color words!

Our schedule for next week is:
Monday-No School Labor Day
Tuesday-B Day
Wednesday-C Day
Thursday-D Day
Friday-A Day

Practicing Our Names

We have had a great week of learning in Room 222!  We are almost finished with our first Jolly Phonics Soundbook (s, a, t, i, p, n)! PLEASE remember to practice the letter names and sounds at home! We've worked hard to write our name the kindergarten way (starting with an uppercase letter follwed by lowercase letters)!  We are enjoying ourselves as we learn1

Thank you to all the families for helping us be ready to learn every morning!

Our schedule next week:
Monday-A-day
Tuesday-B-day
Wednesday-C-day
Thursday-D-day
Friday-A-day

Please refer to the links on the right to help "review" some of our learning goals!

Have a great weekend!

First Week of Kindergarten!

We have had a busy and fun first week of Kindergarten!  The students have learned and practiced our seven classroom rules!  These rules are Quiet Mouth, Quiet Body, Eyes Watching, Ears Listening, Nice to Others, Finishing Our Work, and Doing Our BEST!  The studnets are adjusting to our schedule and our busy day of learning!  I am so proud of them!  We have read many fun books about Kindergarten.  We have read "Miss Bindergarten Gets Ready for Kindergarten", "Kindergarten Rocks", "David Goes to School", "The Kissing Hand", and "Jessica". We went on a Gingerbread Hunt and while looking for the Gingerbread boy met many friendly staff members and discovered new places in our school.  Please continue to practice your child's lunch pin number at home!
